1951 Goodman in Wheatoncrest – $375,000

The Goodman homes in Wheatoncrest do not have interior load-bearing walls.

This 1951 mid-century modern by Charles Goodman is located in Wheatoncrest, which includes 27 homes designed by Goodman for developers Paul Berman and Paul Hammond. Berman and Hammond¬†originally planned to build 250 homes but the land they purchased–unlike the land used for Hollin Hills–was already cleared of trees and the homes did not sell well. They eventually sold the rest of the lots to other developers who did not build modern homes. The house has some interesting touches including high clerestory windows in the one bathroom and operating transom windows over the doors of each of three bedrooms.
