1956 Holmes Run Acres Mid-Century – $550K
I’m on the road in Vermont and hope to be heading to Phillip Johnson’s Glass House in a few days so stay tuned for a report. Here’s a new listing for a 4 bedroom/2 bath in Holmes Run Acres in Falls Church. In 1951, Eli and Gerald Luria began building modest mid-century homes in Holmes Run Acres modeled after the contemporary ranches being built in California. Designed by two of the leading local modernist architects, Nicholas Satterlee and Donald Lethbridge, the homes feature wood beamed cathedral ceilings, large brick wall fireplaces and plenty of glass. This home was likely designed by Satterlee and Lethbridge for Gaddy Brothers Builders, who bought the remaining lots from the Luria Brothers in 1953 and continued building contemporary-style homes. The neighborhood that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
