1958 Casper Neer MCM in Moyaone Reserve – $439K

Moyaone Reserve, is a heavily wooded community of mid-century modern homes near the Potomac River in the Piscataway National Park’s scenic easement. The homes in the community, just 20 miles south of Capitol Hill, were first built after World War II by architects such as Charles Wagner, who was heavily influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, and Charles Goodman, who designed one his earliest homes for clients in the community.

This 1958 mid-century modern with A-frame studio on six acres was designed by local architect Casper Neer, who lived in Hollin Hills and did many additions in that neighborhood. The 3 bedroom/2.5 bath home listed for $439K  was designed for the Lawless family, according to the current (and only second) owners.  Ben Lawless, an artist at the Smithsonian, hired Neer who was a close friend of Wagner. Neer’s original design was for a smaller split level with three bedrooms and one bath. His addition, with larger public spaces, including the 45-foot living room with the window walls and many glass sliding doors to the decks, was built in 1965. The house has nice oak and slate floors and tongue-in-groove ceilings. It also has a separate four-car garage for all your mid-century classic cars. You can see more images here.
