1961 ‘Bodor’ MCM in Raymondale – $724K
I recently mentioned Raymondale and how the Washington Post featured the “1950s vibe” of the mid-century modern community in Falls Church. in a recent “Where We Live” column. At the time, there were no listings on the market. This later (1961) model by Andre Bodor has now hit the market for $724K. Bodor was one of the builders who finished nearby Holmes Run Acres after initial sections were developed by Luria Brothers and Gaddy Brothers Homes.
Bodor’s design evokes the Eichler’s of mid-century California with its slightly pitched front-gabled roof and wall of glass, which flows out to the deck and pool in the backyard. The .66 acre lot backs up to Holmes Run Stream Valley Park. (No pics of the pool but I remember seeing the pool when this house sold in 2010.)
“André Bodor built along the same architectural lines as his predecessors, and like his predecessors, he made his footprint larger and upgraded the materials,” according to a history of the various builders on the Holmes Run Acres website. “The style remains similar, but his finished product looks and feels quite different than the other two builders. The use of open wood beam cathedral ceilings, large expanses of glass, hardwood floors and huge brick walled fireplaces are still there, only in larger quantity and maybe more spectacular presentation.”
The house will be open Sunday (Jan. 20) from 12 to 3 p.m.
