1961 Mid-Century Modern with Pool in Raymondale – $599K; Open 5/29, 5/30

Raymondale sign

Raymondale in Falls Church was developed beginning in the mid-1950s.

This new listing in Raymondale in Falls Church evokes the Eichler’s of mid-century California with its slightly pitched front-gabled roof and wall of glass, which flows out to the deck and pool in the backyard. The .66 acre lot backs up to Holmes Run Stream Valley Park. The listing says the home, which is being sold in “as-is”, is by AndrĂ© Bodor, who was one of the builders who finished nearby Holmes Run Acres after initial sections were developed by Luria Brothers and Gaddy Brothers Homes.

“AndrĂ© Bodor built along the same architectural lines as his predecessors, and like his predecessors, he made his footprint larger and upgraded the materials,” according to a history of the various builders on the Holmes Run Acres website. “The style remains similar, but his finished product looks and feels quite different than the other two builders. The use of open wood beam cathedral ceilings, large expanses of glass, hardwood floors and huge brick walled fireplaces are still there, only in larger quantity and maybe more spectacular presentation.”

Here are images of the house. If you want to see in person, the house will be open Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
