Whenever we visit friends that live in Mantua in Fairfax, I drive by this 1962 Phoenix model. (Not sure if Ken Freeman, who designed many of the MCM homes in Mantua, did this model.) With its flat-roof and abundant windows, the home epitomizes mid-century modern style. The home is 2,500 sq. ft. with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The house, which looks well maintained from the pictures, also has great clerestory windows, 11 ft. ceilings and sits on nearly half and acre of nicely landscaped property. The home even has a nice “screen block” (a decorative concrete fence) popular during the 1950s and ’60s. For more images, check out the virtual tour or see it in person Jan. 27 from 1 to 4 p.m.
