1962 MCM in Silver Spring’s Crest Park – $624K
While Crest Park in Silver Spring might be known for the 25 Charles Goodman-designed homes from the the 1960s, the community located west of New Hampshire Avenue north of Hillandale is also home to modern designs by other architects and builders. I believe this listing, based on a description in Elizabeth Jo Lampl’s history on subdivisions designed by Goodman, is for a 4/3 MCM design by the local architecture firm of Patterson & Worland. The design won American Builder magazine’s 1962 Model Home Contest. It’s interesting that the team won an award for their modern design. A 1999 Washington Post obituary for Wilfrid Worland said he was well known for his colonial and federal-style homes. The house, which has been on the market for months, is located here. Homes by Goodman can be found on Schindler Drive (this listing is on the same street), Crest Park Court, W. Nolcrest and Burnt Ember Drive.
