1966 Mid-Century Modern by Howard U’s Jerome Lindsey – $539K

Jerome Lindsey-designed house

This custom mid-century modern home in Randall Estates in Alexandria was designed and built in 1966 by Jerome Lindsey, a Howard University architect. Lindsey, who was named associate dean of the Graduate School of Design at Harvard in 1970, received his bachelor’s degree in architecture from Howard and his master’s degrees in both architecture and city planning from M.I.T.  The current owners, just the second to live in the 4 bed/3 bath home, have maintained the integrity of the 1960s design with its soaring space and unique roof line around the large windows while adding improvements to help the home be more energy efficient, including triple-pane windows and three-zone heating. Interesting tidbit: Lindsey was named by Ebony as one of the country’s most eligible bachelors in 1968.
