1966 Mid-Century Modern in the Trees of Mohican Hills – $830K

Here’s my latest listing in the Mohican Hills area of Glen Echo Heights in Bethesda.  Perched in a peaceful setting of mature trees and lush landscaping, this 1966 mid-century modern is set back from traffic in a secluded cul-de-sac in the neighborhood filled with a variety of modern homes.

The 1966 home is perched at the top of a cul-de-sac on .35 lush acres.

The central focus of the 4 bedroom/2 bath home by mid-century “California contemporary”-style builders Matthews and Schwartz is the expansive second-floor opening living-dining area (see below) with refinished hardwoods and wall of glass sliders that allows that open to a full-length front balcony.

Open dining-living room with wall of glass opening to full length balcony.

The open living room has a fireplace and cathedral ceilings.

View of the surrounding trees from the balcony.

Two wood decks and a slate front patio are nice settings to enjoy the .35 acre lot, which includes a Japanese-style hot tub. The entrance way reflects the home’s mcm style with floor-to ceiling wall of glass, slate floor and dramatic wood-slatted stairway.

Slate and glass entranceway with wood slats along staircase.

I like the interesting touch of the shelf on the stairway.

Other original touches include the light wood kitchen cabinets and several mid-century wall sconces. You can see additional pictures here.
