1978 Contemporary Post-and-Beam Yankee Farm House – $459K

This custom Yankee Barn House has a rustic, contemporary feel.

A few weeks ago I posted a traditional home in D.C. with a modern addition by famed architect Chloethiel Woodard Smith. (It’s now under contract.) Here’s another home that could work for a couple that has one modernist and one traditionalist. This custom 5 bedroom/2.5 bath home located in Tantallon on the Potomac has a late-1970s contemporary look from the outside and a rustic-contemporary mix on the inside. Built by Yankee Barn House, which was founded in 1969, the post-and-beam house has a two-story living room that spills into the open dining room and kitchen. The deck overlooks trees and golf course, a perfect perch to see the wildlife. When I toured the house at the end winter, I saw–and heard–a variety of birds chirping for spring to arrive.

The two-story open living room has good views of the trees and golf course.

It reminds me of Lake Tahoe. Must be the age of the architecture. This would be a fun one to tackle with a designer like Annie Elliott.
