Not interested in Colonials? Neither am I.

If you are looking to buy or sell a mid-century modern home in Maryland, Virginia or DC, you have come to the right place.

I focus exclusively on listing and marketing mid-century modern and modern homes, and have sold $100 million in modern real estate since 2009. Modern Capital (moderncapitaldc.com) has been recognized by the Washington Post, Bethesda Magazine, DC Magazine and other publications as the go-to source for mid-century modern real estate in the D.C. area.

A former journalist and top-level communications professional, I bring a personal passion for mid-century modern design and architecture and market directly to buyers seeking mid-century modern, modern and contemporary homes.

I am a licensed Realtor with Compass in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia. Call (301-503-6171) or e-mail  me (michael@moderncapitaldc.com) to discuss your home’s architecture, history and value in today’s modern real estate market.

Modern Capital’s Beginning

When my wife, daughter and I moved back to Washington in 2005, I started looking for a resource about mid-century modern homes and neighborhoods in the area. I couldn’t find anything, so I started the blog Modern Capital.

The earlier blog, and now my new site, is dedicated to covering mid-century modern and modern real estate, design and events in the D.C. area. It also is committed to raising awareness and supporting efforts to preserve the region’s mid-century modern architecture.

This passion for informing people about the variety of mid-century modern homes in the area and an intense interest from readers looking for a real estate professional who understands and appreciates this type of architecture, led me to pursue my real estate license.

I am a proud supporter of the Docomomo-US, the National Building Museum, and the biennial Hollin Hills House and Garden Tour. I also serve as a founding Board Member of Docomomo DC.
