Condo in I.M. Pei Building in SW – $275K
If you can’t stand the thought of living in some ugly post-modern condo building in DC but want an updated, contemporary unit in a mid-century modern building, take a look at this condo in Waterfront Tower in Southwest. It is one of four buildings designed in 1960 by I.M. Pei as part of the major urban renewal effort in Southwest. The four apartment buildings were known as Town Center Plaza Towers and they surrounded the Chloethiel Woodard Smith-designed Waterside Mall, which has been replaced with the new Safeway and other shops near the Metro on 4th St. Local architecture firm Torti Gallas & Partners redid the entire interior in “green” fashion although the developers did not pay for LEED certification.
