FSBO: 1956 Mid-Century Rambler in Lake Barcroft; $653K

This 1956 4 bedroom/3 bath rambler on .4 acres in Lake Barcroft looks largely untouched if someone is looking to create a retro space. The two-level, side-gabled roof home is a For Sale by Owner. Lake Barcroft has one of the areas largest concentration of mid-century and mid-century modern homes, including some designed by Charles Goodman and one by Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius. (Stay tuned for a post on the Gropius house.) The driving force behind the community was Barger, who bought the 135-acre lake and surrounding 566 aces for $1 million in 1950, according to an interesting 2001 history of the community written by longtime resident Anthony Bracken.
