More Photos of Modern Being Built in Lake Barcroft – $1.99 Million

Here are updated pictures, details and floor plans for this 5,500 square-foot modern home being built in Lake Barcroft that I first posted here. The house was designed by Charles Warren, a young D.C.-based architect. One person who commented on the original post thought the house was too large when compared to the more modest mid-century neighbors, while others liked what they saw. What do you think?

Are you certain Charles Warren is the architect? The only architect I can find with that name is a pomo guy in NYC. There’s also no one by that name in AIA’s DC firm directory.

I like what I’m seeing, but at 5,500 sf and given the cost of utilities, I have to wonder what energy efficient features and use of green technology are being incorporated into this design. Or is that an inappropriate inquiry? If so, pardon me.

Put a couple of gables on this and you have yourself a McMansion. It’s an ostentatious, poorly composed jumble of cheap materials.
