Open House Report: 1973 Contemporary in Timberwood of Potomac – $819K

This 1973 4/3 contemporary is located in the Timberwood of Potomac neighborhood off of Falls Road. Its a beautiful neighborhood of early 1970s homes in a forest-like setting. Driving through the neighborhood, you can see the wide expanses of glass on the homes. I was even able to spot a George Nelson bubble lamp dangling from the ceiling of one home in true MCM fashion.

This home has a nice modern feel with lots of glass, including clerestory windows on the lower level and a wall of windows on the back of the house leading to the deck. The one downside I think is the layout of the house. The narrow kitchen and stairway that leads from the main floor to the top and lower levels are in the center of the house. All of the living space is situated to the right or left of the house. While it’s still a cool space, it does not feel as open as you might expect from a modern-style home.
