Slew of Deck Houses on the Market in MD
After helping clients buy this Deck House (pictured) this summer, I have seen a slew of others hit the market in recent months. Deck House, Inc. was founded in 1959 by William Berkes. The Deck House typically featured his pioneering mid-century post-and-beam construction with exposed Douglas fir beams and tongue-and-groove vaulted ceilings. In 1995, Deck House merged with Acorn Structures, which was founded in 1947. After some financial difficulties, the company is back in business and renamed to reflect its roots: the Acorn Deck House Company, owned by Trudeau Homes International. Here are few of the Deck Houses (these are all in Maryland) on the market:
1979 – 5 bed/2 bath/3 half baths on nearly an acre in Colesville. Listed for $589K.
1978 – 3 bed/2 bath on nearly an acre in Damascus. Listed for $399K.
1977 – 3 bed/2 bath on .71 acre with pool right by the Chesapeake Bay. Listed for $549K.
1976 – 5 bed/3 bath om more than an acre in Davidsonville. Listed for $795K.
